This brass SW-00 diesel switcher shell kit (shown assembled above) includes a precision etched fret, machined detail parts, a pair of PTFE guide blocks to help with assembly / soldering and illustrated step by step instructions. The assembled shell fits over the R4-11-8 powered chassis (sold separately).

R4-11-8 powered chassis

This extremely powerful small chassis
is designed to run on Z-scale track, so beside Z, it's the perfct candidate for Nn3 and even HOn2 projects. Scroll down to watch the prototype in action.

The chassis is assembled from precision etched phosphor bronze components, the motor is high torque coreless, rated 10V DC. The 4.4 mm diameter wheels with very fine flanges are made of nickel silver. The chassis and the wheels are blackened. The wheel vipers are made of highly flexible aerospace quality phosphor bronze to ensure long lasting, dependable electric contacts. The gear ratio is 1:38, the maximum scale speed is approximately 50 mph in Z-scale, 36 mph in Nn3. The mounting brackets are designed for the correct installation of MTL 905 couplers and universal attachment possibilities of various locomotive bodies.
